About us

The Antique Hut is the brainchild of Sameer Sahu, an engineer by profession and an avid collector of fine arts and antiques. This passion was instilled in him by his parents who had been collectors of antiques themselves for over 40 years. What thus began as a hobby, finally progressed into a commercial venture by the turn of millennium, equipped with a fine range of eclectic, unusual and exclusive art and antique collection.

Situated in Nagpur, a climatically pleasant and well-connected city located at the geographical centre of peninsular India, all the collectibles are aesthetically housed and displayed in Sameer’s bungalow and in the family owned farm house. Nagpur is a very tourist friendly and safe city with good amenities at affordable rates thus making it very convenient for art enthusiasts, private collectors, professionals, dealers and agents alike to visit, stay and conduct business with the company.

The In-house Artist – Mrs. Seema Sahu

Mrs. Seema Sahu, Sameer’s mother, was born in 1958 in a small town of Northern India.

She had always been fascinated with the colours of Nature right from her early childhood years. As a little girl, she would perch herself in front of a flower pot with a paint brush in her hand and let her creativity flow through her nimbly artistic hands. This fascination soon turned into a passionate hobby and she created many exquisite masterpieces of art.

She moved to Nagpur post marriage, but her ardent love and zestful drive for painting didn’t stop and she continued creating fabulous works of art. Throughout the years, Seema has painted stunning masterpieces. Oil on canvas and watercolour on ceramic have been her forte.

Seema’s works include subjects like Nature, Still Life, Replicas of famous painters, Figures (both human and animals), Abstracts and Modern Art. She has successfully exhibited her beautiful collection at the Cymroza Art Gallery in the year 1995 and at the Nehru Centre Art Gallery in the year 2000, both of which are very reputed galleries in the city of Mumbai.

Seema also has a keen interest in gardening and landscaping and she has executed many landscaping projects along the Feng Shui and Vaastu guidelines. Her greatest and most mentionable achievement in this field was the beautification of the Film City (Bollywood) Studio Complex in Goregaon, Mumbai, for which she won many accolades and praise-worthy recognition from many well-known personalities of the Film Industry. Her other landscaping MNC clients include The Raymond Group, Ispat Industries, Western Coalfields Ltd. and DCL Polyester. The Nagpur Garden Club has also awarded Seema and her husband the winners medals and awards in the Rose, Succulents and Bonsai categories consecutively for about 11 years.

Most oil, watercolour and ceramics paintings housed in The Antique Hut are made by Seema Sahu.
