#FUSO18 Rare Pair of Caned 3 Seaters

A pair of George III Chippendale period mahogany sofa with cane panels on the back and sides the seat well upholstered the x- base form carvings on the back of the seat panel in the form of roman curdle. The beginnings of archaeological classicism  can be seen in this piece . Two phoenixes on either side of the top seat railing. This style which developed rapidly from circa 1810-1835, some time called Empire, Sprang from a desire to recreate the furniture of antiquity.
